Skipness is a quiet haven on the shores of the Kintyre peninsular with magnificent views down Kilbrannan Sound to Arran. Washed by the Gulf Stream the area has a mild climate making it home to many exotic species. Sandy bays, way-marked walks, extensive wildlife including many bird species, deer, otters, seals, porpoises & dolphins. The magnificent Skipness Castle, maintained by Historic Scotland, is open at all reasonable times and the tower is open every day from 1 April. The Kintyre Way passes through the village and nearby ferries run to Arran, Islay, Cowal, Jura & Gigha.

Other visitor attractions close by include Inverary Castle and Jail, Kilmartin Glen (the valley of the Kings and home of many mysteries), the port town of Oban and the famous Mull of Kintyre.

Free range eggs are available to buy most of the year.

Skipness Estate is just over 100 miles from Glasgow past Loch Lomond and through Inverary, Lochgilphead and Tarbert. It takes about 3 hours by car or 4 hours by bus. Alternatively take the ferries via Arran, from Ardrossan to Brodick and Lochranza to Claonaig (3 miles from Skipness).
